DescriptionBoy's short pants of purple and white striped, twill-woven cotton. The shorts are smooth across the front and back and have no waistband, but a 1 1/2-inch-wide lining of twill-woven, white cotton around the top edge. This lining is doubled, with one side stitched flush to the shorts. The other side has buttonholes for fastening the shorts to the shirt; it is stitched in a scalloped pattern around the buttonholes. The pants are open on each side for about two inches and fasten with a horn button at the waist. There is an on-seam pocket on each side. The lower legs are decorated with three horn buttons on the side seam. There is an opening in the lower front crotch seam, covered by a flap on the inside, in place of a fly. The pocket bags are plain white cotton.
