DescriptionA cross-eyed monkey sits on a table covered with a patterned tablecloth. He is smoking an elaborate pipe, which has a cord and tassels and a perforated brass plate covering the bowl. Smoke issues from the plate and from the monkey's mouth. With his right hand, the monkey holds the handle of a silver or pewter pitcher. A partially filled glass is nearby. A clay pipe with a broken stem is at the left. A framed picture of two people standing beside a house or barn hangs on the wall at upper left.
