DescriptionA monkey, seated at the left, extends the tip of its tail towards a spotted dog which is chained to the board wall at the right. The chain is attached to the dog's collar. A coat and a cap with a feather hang from the wall. A wooden tub of water is in the right foreground. A ewer or pitcher and a plaid cloth are beside the monkey in the left foreground. A Gothic revival house with decorative vergeboards and hood moldings is visible through a doorway in the left background.
