DescriptionIn the interior of a barn, a monkey wearing a jacket, a cap with a feather, and an earring, grasps one dog by the tail and reaches toward a second dog which is eating from a dish. The dog on the left is a spotted hunting dog, possibly a pointer. He faces an open door through which trees or bushes are visible. The monkey is chained to a board in the right background, possibly part of of a manger containing straw or hay. Both dogs appear to be young, little more than puppies.
