Pond of Litchfield mustered in as a private in the Second Connecticut Heavy Artillery on September 11 1862 and discharged July 8 1865. On the back of this photograph, he gives his address as Bantam Falls. Bantam is a village in the town of Litchfield; prior to the 1880s, it was known as Bantam Falls. (Finlay 4/17/2012)
