NotesConstituent Note: Though the composition is closely based on a portrait by Gilbert Stuart, Adams's appearance has been altered to make him appear much older. (Finlay 8/4/2006)

Subject Note: John Quincy Adams (1767-1848) was the sixth President of the United States. His father, John Adams (1735-1826) was the second President of the United States.
