DescriptionHalf-length portrait of an elderly man wearing a jacket, vest, and shirt, seated at a table. His right hand rests on a small book, which is placed with its fore-edge down on two large sheets of paper. He touches the edges of the papers with the fingers of his left hand. The hilt of a sword is just visible, resting in the crook of his left arm. A tablecloth is on the table. Drapery with a tassel and a column are in the background.
