DescriptionSmall section of blue wool from a Confederate flag. The ends are frayed from being cut from the flag. The piece is currently glued to a piece of paper that contains a message that reads: "Piece of the Rebel flag taken from Fort Fisher by a U.S. Marine, at the storming of that fort Jan. 1865. Presented to N.G. Burgess, and by him to B.P Starr, thence to Conn Historical Soc 1881."
