BiographyBorn in Litchfield, Connecticut on 10 April, 1794, the daughter of Oliver, Jr. and Elizabeth (Stoughton) Wolcott. She married in 1810 to Colonel George Gibbs (1776-1833), the son of George and Mary (Channing) Gibbs. They lived first in Newport, Rhode Island, soon removing to "Sunswick" near Astoria, Long Island. Laura Wolcott Gibbs died at "Sunswick" December 1870.
