BiographyClara B. M. Cole was born on 3 October 1878 in New London, Connecticut. She was the daughter of Major General George M. Cole (1853-1933), who was a veteran of the Spanish American War and who served as Adjutant General of Connecticut from about 1909 to 1928, and Emily Judson (Beckwith) Cole (1855-1928). She had three siblings: Lieutenant Colonel George Ezra Cole (1885-1957), Major Donald Malpas Cole (1893-1967), and Emily Beckwith (Cole) Nye (1896-1962).

She lived in West Hartford, Connecticut. She was a member of Trinity Episopal Church and the Ruth Wyllys Chapter of the DAR. She never married.

She died on 21 March 1954 and is buried in Cedar Grove Cemetery in New London, Connecticut.
