BiographyWilliam S. Tryon was born in 1931 in Connecticut. He was the son of Arthur Lane Tryon (1895-1976) and Elizabeth Lester Tryon (1898-1990). He grew up in Wethersfield, and graduated from Trinity College in 1952. He joined Stackpole, Moore, and Tryon Co. in 1976, and became President and Chief Executive Officer in 1978 upon the retirement of his brother, A. Lane Tryon. He served as President of Business for Downtown Hartford from 1990 to 1993. In 1991, Bill Tryon was named "Retailer of the Year" by the Connecticut Retail Merchants Association. In 1993, he received the Renaissance Award from the Hartford Downtown Council.
