BiographySonja Goldstein was born in Leipzig, Germany, in 1926. Her family emigrated to London, England in 1939 due to the persecution of Jewish people in Germany. She studied International Relations at the London School of Economics (LSE).
In 1952, she and her husband moved to the United States. Sonja attended Yale Law School from 1948 to 1952. After graduating, Sonja worked briefly for the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) in Washington, D.C. She then transitioned to part-time work at Arthur Sachs's law firm in New Haven.
