Eve W. Paul

Eve W. Paul (1930-2016) born in New York City, was a pioneering female lawyer. After graduating from Cornell University and Columbia Law School in 1952, she faced significant challenges finding employment due to gender discrimination, being rejected by numerous law firms. She eventually secured a position at Hays, Wolf, Schwabacher, Sklar & Epstein.

In 1958, she moved to Stamford, Connecticut, where she established her own successful law practice focusing on wills, real estate, and matrimonial law.

Paul also co-founded the First Women's Bank of Connecticut in Greenwich to address the difficulties women faced in obtaining loans.

She returned to New York City in 1970 and worked with the Legal Aid Society's Children's Division, representing juveniles. Subsequently, she became a prominent advocate for reproductive rights, working with Planned Parenthood on a study of birth control laws and later serving as in-house counsel for 25 years.
