BiographyRobert Pearsall Smith was the son of John Jay Smith, Librarian of the Library Company of Philadelphia and an author, editor, and publisher. R. F. Smith worked for a time with his father before establishing his own map publishing company. He was an early advocate of lithography and produced more than 150 maps and city plans.
