DescriptionCylindrical wooden trunk owned by Frances Mary Dana, the great granddaughter of General Israel Putnam. The trunk has a flat bottom with a rounded lid secured by two cast metal hinges. The exterior of the trunk is covered in sealskin trimmed with scalloped, pinked leather attached with brass tacks. Brass tacks decorate the lid with the monogram of the original owner: "F.M.D." The interior is lined with white paper printed with a graphic pattern of four dark blue dots. Two kidney-shaped, hand-forged iron handles are attached to either end of the trunk. The handles are painted black, as is the hand-forged metal lock plate, latch now missing.
