DescriptionThis off-white, plain-woven wool blanket has a thin (1/4-inch wide) brown stripe at the top and bottom, running horizontally, woven in. The absence of a center seam implies that the blanket is English. Remnants of wool embroidery thread are shaped in circular designs at each of the four corners, measuring 14 1/4 inch in diameter. It appears as though off-white, pink, and green embroidery threads were used for these "compass rose" designs.
Object number2001.43.2
MarkingsThe initials "FMD" embroidered at bottom center of blanket.
