DescriptionPair of cast pewter communion cups, or two-handled cups, part of a Communion service consisting of a pair of Communion cups (.1-.2), a pair of patens (.3-.4), and a flagon (.5). Each cup has a slightly flared rim and a cylindrical body. Each cup has two solid, cast handles that are soldered to opposite sides of the body; the ear-shaped handles consist of a large C-curve over a smaller, outward-facing C-curve that ends in a very small, curved terminal. Each cup has a raised band just above the bottom of the handle, and bold, tapered molding at the base. The underside of each cup has skimming marks. The cups are slightly tarnished.
