DescriptionWhite, cotton lace and silk lined shirtwaist with center back closure, 3/4 sleeves, and high collar. Bobbin lace and embroidered net make up the outside of the shirtwaist. A section of net embroidered with large flowers is at the center of the bodice, forming a "Y" from the center front out to the shoulders. On either side a series of bobbin lace and embroidered net insertions make up the rest of the bodice, starting with embroidered net closest to the "Y." On the outer edge of each strip of bobbin lace is a thin bobbin lace edging sewn down on only one side. The same alternating insertions are used to make up the back and sleeves of the shirtwaist. The cuffs are made of the same embroidered net as the central "Y" with bobbin lace edging in two rows at the bottom. The high collar is a thick bobbin lace. The center back closes with hooks and eyes. The silk lining creates a two inch peplum at the bottom to tuck into the skirt. On the back of the peplum is a sewn-on tag reading "J.E. Sage/84-88 Pratt St. Hartford, CT."
