DescriptionMan's waistcoat of brown cotton woven with white twill stripes. The stripes run vertically on the waistcoat. The waistcoat has a notched collar, with sharply pointed, short revers. The center front opening fastens with nine self-covered buttons; the buttonholes are worked in dark brown mohair thread (customary on eighteenth-century breeches). There is a 5 3/4-inch-wide pocket on each side of the vest; the stripes of the fabric along the top of the pocket is turned horizontally. The back of the vest is plain tow linen. The vest is unlined. The pocket bags are plain linen.
