DescriptionWoman's white linen chemise, with short, gathered sleeves trimmed with drawn thread work and fine bobbin lace. The sleeves are cut full under the arms to provide ease. The wide neckline is trimmed in the same manner as the sleeves. A 7-inch-long center front placket opening fastens with mother of pearl buttons. The placket is trimmed on the opening edge with bobbin lace. The underarm seams are reinforced with a lining band, about 1 1/2-inches wide. The front and back panels are gathered into the neckline band. They are pieced to create the desired width. Seams are selvage-to-selvage or flat-felled. The hem is 7/8 inch deep.
