DescriptionSixth plate daguerreotype portrait of siblings Henry Symonds and Mary Frances Bull, taken by an unknown photographer around 1860. Henry, sitting with his arms crossed, is wearing a dark jacket and vest, a white shirt with a turned-down collar, and a dark bow tie. His hair is parted on the side, and he has facial hair worn in a chin curtain style, but without sideburns.

Mary Frances is holding an open book in her lap. She is wearing a dress with vertical pleats on the bodice that are gathered into ruching at the waist. Her cuffs and collar are white lace, her collar fastened with a brooch. It looks like her dress opens at the front, and that opening is lined with piping (either that, or she is wearing something on a long cord around her neck -- it is difficult to tell from the image). Her hair is parted in the middle and fashioned into low wings with curls over her ears.
