DescriptionManuscript map showing a new road (the "road now laid") as it intersects with Talcott Mountain Turnpike and Farmington Turnpike, and crosses the Woods River in Hartford, Connecticut. The Connecticut River runs the length of map from top to bottom on the right side. Notable landmarks along the new road include the State House, William Lord's Road and house, Gulley Brook and Quaker Arnold's house. At the intersection of Talcott Mountain Turnpike and the new road is Clark's Tavern, and along the Talcott Mountain Turnpike several mile stones are marked.

Subject notes: Woods River as seen on the map is the name that was given to the north and south branches of the Park River in the West End of Hartford, Connecticut. Gulley [Gully] Brook flows south through Keney Park and is now covered over between Vine and Garden streets in Hartford. An 1801 advertisement for a "house for sale" locates Clark's Tavern in West Hartford.
