DescriptionMold-formed, white, ironstone mortar and pestle with gilded decoration. The mortar (.a) has a slightly flared rim, tapered sides, rounded base, and inverted conical foot. At one side, just over an inch below the rim, are the raised letters "RX". Gilding has been applied at the rim and at the raised letters. The pestle (.b) consists of a spherical handle at the top, and a long cylindrical portion that tapers from bottom to top. The spherical handle is gilded.
