An applied handle connects the rim with the shoulder of the jug. Above the shoulder, the jug is glazed with a brown slip glaze, or Albany-type glaze. The shoulder is left unglazed, and below the shoulder the jug is glazed with a white glaze, or Bristol-type glaze. Several small indentations in the white glazed portion of the jug are the result of the uneven stoneware surface below. There is a chip in the stoneware just below the handle.
