DescriptionViews of floodwaters, wreckage and cleanup following the March 1936 flood in Hartford. Some photographs include apartment buildings, automobiles, bridges, buses, commercial buildings, and houses. Locations include Asylum Street, Bushnell Park, Cleveland Avenue, Elm Street, Loomis Street, Pearl Street, Sheldon Street, Tower Avenue, Village Street, Windsor Avenue, and Wyllys Street. Several locations are in the North End. One photograph shows women in a canoe. Others shows refugees in a rowboat, a horse-drawn wagon, and in a breadline at the Old State House. Several show scenes along the Park River and the Connecticut River.
