DescriptionSilver sauceboat with a flared, shaped rim that has a wide pouring lip emerging at one side. The rim is shaped with C-curves, S-curves, and fillets, or small flat sections. The body of the sauceboat is bulbous. Opposite the spout is a tall, curved handle in the shape of an eagle's head with a long neck; this is in the baroque style. The handle splits into two scrolled sections to join the rim and body of the sauceboat. The body is supported by three legs, each in the shape of a ribbed knee over a hoof-shaped foot. Engraved on one side of the sauceboat, to the left of the handle, is a seated lion holding an arrow or stick in its right front paw. The body of the sauceboat is raised; the handle and the legs are cast and soldered to the body. The handle is further shaped with engraving to sharpen the decorative details. The exterior of the sauceboat is lightly scratched; it has only a few small dents.
