DescriptionSmall whiteware plate with a plain edge, a curved top surface, and a round foot on the bottom. The foot has two holes pierced to one side, corresponding with the top of the scene on the reverse. The top of the plate has a green, black, blue, and red transfer and hand-painted scene titled, "The Old Charter Oak. Fell Aug.21.1856". The scene shows a leaning brown tree with leaves, set behind a black iron fence. A white two-story house with a red roof is in the background. The scene is surrounded by fields and trees.
