DescriptionLarge chalice, or goblet, made of blown colorless lead glass with a light grey tint. The chalice has a bucket-shaped bowl with tapered sides, above a short stem that widens at both ends, and a round foot with a pontil mark on the bottom. There are a few light scratches on the exterior, and a ring of light scratches and wear on the bottom of the foot.
Pontil mark: A rough place on a blown glass object where the solid metal rod, or pontil, is cracked off the object after final shaping and decoration. Pontil marks can be polished to achieve a smooth surface.
