DescriptionRound vase made of earthenware with applied raised decoration, hand-painted enamel, and copper luster decoration. The vase sits on a short round foot and has sides that swell out to a point, where there is a line of raised bead decoration. This lower portion of the vase is decorated with solid copper luster. Then the sides of the vase narrow before widening slightly just below the rim. This portion of the vase has a layer of opaque green slip and three mold formed and applied raised decorations. The raised decorations show a man smoking a pipe, two figures in a horse-drawn chariot facing left, and a third decoration with the chariot and figures in reverse. All three are crudely decorated with hand-painted enamels in light green, orange, peach, and brown. Over the solid green slip are hand-painted, curving lines of copper luster, generally in abstract forms. Finally, there is a line of raised beads at the rim, which is covered with solid copper luster. The vase ends abruptly at this point.

The vase has undergone alternations over time. In an area of the vase, between the raised chariot decorations, is a small circular hole. This is surrounded by an area that has been repainted with dark green and black. The top of the rim has been painted with brown or black directly on the ceramic, suggesting that the rim has been altered in some way. Additionally, there are many light scratches in the copper luster and crazing over many of the glazed surfaces. The enamel on the raised decoration shows crazing and significant wear, especially on the orange enamel.
