DescriptionRound, porcelain cake plate with pink luster decoration and hand-painted red, green, and black enamels. The decoration begins in the center of the cake plate with a circular band of pink luster, about 2 3/4 inches in diameter. This is surrounded by an undecorated area, then additional pink luster and enamel decoration on the rim. The rim is decorated with a meandering pink luster vine with hand-painted green and black enamel leaves and red flowers, or berries, attached to the vine. Additional pink luster vines emerge from the primary meandering vine as well. There is another band of pink luster at the outer edge of the rim. The entire cake plate has very small, dense lines of crazing, which may have contributed to its overall yellow appearance. The top surface of the cake plate shows wear as well. The pink luster at the rim is wearing off, and there are scratches on the top surface of the cake plate, especially where the inner edge of the rim dips down to the bottom of the cake plate. Some of the green and red enamel is flaking off as well, in this same location.
