DescriptionBiscuit fired, or unglazed, redware vase with a flat foot, globular body, and cylindrical neck. The interior of the vase has a light lead glaze. The vase was formed by turning the redware clay on a wheel, then turning it on a lathe to complete the exterior decoration. A band of redware circles the cylindrical neck of the vase, and the lower inch of the vase was smoothed off. The remainder of the vase is decorated with multiple rows of square indentations, probably applied with a coggle wheel while the vase turned on the lathe.
