At the widest end of the pipe, the cylindrical, hollow area is widened to accommodate the narrow end of another length of pipe. The interior of the pipe is glaze with a brown slip glaze, or Albany-type glaze. The exterior of the pipe is not glazed, but is an uneven red color.
