DescriptionGrey stoneware keg with cobalt blue decoration; the keg is in the shape of a small upright barrel with flat ends. Four groups of bands circle the barrel. Two of these groups, one at the top and one at the bottom of the barrel, consist of four bands each. The two groups of bands circling the middle of the barrel consist of three bands each. The bands are hand-painted with cobalt blue. There are two holes in the keg, one on the top, and one at the side, probably to allow for a spigot. Above the spigot hole, below the top-most group of bands, is the maker's mark, "E. FRARY & Co./ E. HARTFORD". There is a small hole half-way through the ceramic between the top and bottom line of the mark. The glaze is irregular, showing small bumps and indentations, as well as small spots of brown and some thicker areas of glaze.

Opposite the maker's mark are two chips in the glaze and a large blue drip, which may be extra cobalt blue or another substance.
