DescriptionRound, ironstone plate with a transfer-printed underglaze cobalt blue pattern. The pattern in the center of the plate shows a stream with water running over rocks in the foreground. Two individuals, accompanied by a dog, stand and fish or sit on the bank to the left. An Italian-inspired ruin is on the left bank in the distance. This pattern is surrounded by an area of white, then a border at the rim of the plate. The border consists of a stippled blue background with stylized scrolls and leaves. Imperfections in the ceramic appear as brown dots on the surface of the plate. There is only one very small chip on the rim. Although there are no marks on the bottom of the plate, the marks from the three small stands used to separate this plate from the one below it in the kiln are clearly visible.
