DescriptionHalf-length portrait of a woman reclining, facing left. Her shoulders and upper body are bare; her breasts are barely covered by drapery, possibly the sheets and coverlet of a bed. There appears to be a shawl draped across her left arm. A sheer veil with gold trim on the borders is fastened to her head with a large barette or pin with pendant pearls. A three-strand necklace of pearls is around her neck. She holds a flower, possibly an anemone, in her left hand. In her right hand, she holds an ostrich feather fan, with an ornate handle. Additional drapery is immediately behind her, covering the support on which she is leaning.
