DescriptionTen bust-length oval portraits of men are arranged in two rows. Each man wears a coat, vest, shirt, and necktie. Some men wear wigs. Drapery with tassels appears in the background of each portrait. Inscriptions beneath each portrait read: "GEORGE WASHINGTON. / Inaugurated March 4, 1789. - JOHN ADAMS. / Inaugurated March 4, 1797. - THOMAS JEFFERSON. / Inaugurated March 4, 1801. - JAMES MADISON. / Inaugurated March 4, 1809. - JAMES MONROE. / Inaugurated March 4, 1817. / JOHN QUINCY ADAMS. / Inaugurated March 4, 1825. - ANDREW JACKSON. / Inaugurated March 4, 1829. - MARTIN VAN BUREN. / Inaugurated March 4, 1837. - WM. HENRY HARRISON. / Inaugurated March 4, 1841. - JOHN TYLER. / Succeeded to the Presidency by the death of W.H. / HARRISON, April 5th. 1841." Two vignettes are beneath the portraits. The vignette on the left depicts a large government building with a high basement, a portico, and three domes. Trees, including poplars, grow in the foreground. The inscription reads: "CAPITOL AT WASHINGTON." The vignette on the right depicts a large residential building with a portico and a balustrade on the roof, surrounded by lawns and fences. A man on horseback is on a road in the foreground. A river is in the background. The inscription reads: "PRESIDENT'S HOUSE." Each of the portraits, the vignettes, and the title is surround by an ornate frame.
