DescriptionReproduction 1776 era outfit made by Hazel Harvey and worn by her husband, Charles Harvey, for the celebration of the U.S. Bicentennial in 1976.

(a) Coat: The coat was sewn to resemble an 18th century men's frock coat, and is constructed of a gray/green colored ribbed fabric with dark green ric-rac piping. The coat features a front closure of 8 metallic plastic buttons. There are metallic plastic button details and white lace on the coat cuffs, false pocket flaps on either hip, and button details on the back. Sewn to the interior of the front chest area, on either side of the split, are the socket portion of 2 black metal snaps, these correspond to two metal snap eyelets on the waistcoat.

(b) Breeches: Knee-length breeches sewn to resemble 18th century men's clothes, constructed from gray/green ribbed fabric with an elastic waistband and buckles at the knees. There are metallic plastic button details on the knee area.

(c) Waistcoat: Patterned waistcoat sewn to resembe an 18th century men's waistcoat, constructed from a main fabric of dusty red with green accents, and backing of gray/green fabric. The waistcoat features a front closure of five metallic plastic buttons, there are two snap eyelets on either side of the front neckline of the waistcoat, these correspond to the snaps on the interior of the coat (a).

(d) Shirt: White sleeveless and sideless shirt, the front and back of the shirt are connected by 1-inch white elastic on either side of the torso. There is a lace detail at the neck to mimic the look of a jabot.

(e) Neck stock: white neck covering with velcro closure, this was designed to resemble an 18th century neck stock tie.

(f-g) Pair of white stockings with elastic garters.

(h-i) Pair of metal buckles on black pleather with 5/8 inch black elastic— to be worn over modern shoes.

(j) Hat: tricorne style hat in black felt with white trim
