DescriptionCalligraphic or penmanship exercise "On Happiness" by Pamela Francis. At the top, there is a red garland of flowers above two ovals with red titles: "Spring" and "Summer." Directly below is a large red diamond and the title "On Happiness." Opposite the diamond on the right and left edges of the paper are red garlands enclosing Francis's name, location, and date of creation. Below the diamonds are two more ovals as above, titled in red ink, "Autumn" and "Winter." A black garland with red flowers leads to large text lines horizontally at the bottom of the paper in alternating black and red ink: "Command your pen Pam / Sin surely brings sorrow 12 / Good manners procures esteem / Make no more haste than good speed."
