DescriptionInfant's quilted bodice of white cotton, imitating a bolero-style vest, but opening in back. The "vest" is rounded from the neck edge to the sides, and then rounded up again to the center back neck edge, where it fastens with a single mother of pearl button. The vest is quilted in front in a diamond grid pattern, with a white dot embroidered in the center of each diamond. The outer edge is embroidered in a whitework design of a floral garland. The edge is finished with scalloped whitework embroidery. The center front panel between the vest edges has a pointed waist and round neckline, also finished with scalloped whitework. The lower center front is embroidered with a spikey floral spray framed by embroidered dots, complimenting the shape of the pointed waist. The sides of this front panel are quilted in parallel diagonal rows, with embroidered sprigs between the quilting line. The back of the bodice is quilted simply in straight lines, radiating from the armhole edge and sides. The quilting is machine chain-stitched.
