DescriptionPortrait of Mary Ledyard (Mrs.Thomas Seymour) by William Johnston, depicting her in middle age. She has straight brown hair that is pulled back into a blue ribbon and ornament on top of her head. She is wearing a decollete white satin dress. There is a blue bow at the top of her bodice and lace at the neck and arms, and a pink scarf draped on her right arm and across her back to hang down by her left side. Her skirt is caught up by her right hand. On her right arm is a basket of fruit and flowers. The upper left part of the background shows a landscape through an open window with a meadow, trees, and hills in the distance.
