DescriptionOfficial United States Navy uniform hat worn by Matthew Woods. Consists of a hat form with interchangeable hat covers in khaki and white. Includes a (a) white hat cover, (b) paper insert for white hat cover, (c) original plastic packaging for white hat cover, (d) khaki hat cover, (e) hat frame, (f) black hat band with insignia, (g) gold chin strap, (h-i) two gold screws with insignia, (j) plastic hat hanger, and a (k) price tag for the hat from from the Midshipman Store.
Bancroft brand military style cap with black visor, rigid standing front, flaring circular rim and black cap band worn with detachable weather treated khaki (d) or white (a) cap cover, as required by uniform. The interior hatband is constructed from black perforated leather. The headgear insignia (f) at the center front of the hat consists of two gold crossed fouled anchors with burnished silver shield surmounted by a burnished silver spread eagle facing to wearer's right, it is attached to the mount of the combination cap band. There is no decoration or insignia on the visor indicating the wearer is of the rank of Lieutenant Commander or below. The gold chin strap (g) is secured to the hat with by a Navy eagle gilt button on the proper right and left sides. The plastic Bancroft brand "Hang-A-Cap" hat hanger (j) is constructed of clear and white plastic with black lettering.
