DescriptionFull length studio portrait of young Asian boy in a dark long robe with buttons and four pockets. A tassle is suspended from the second button of the robe, and fabric is folded into the top left pocket of the robe. He wears matching pants. An umbrella in shown in his left hand, and a straw hat is shown in his right hand. A seat or stand made of tree branches is visible at his right.

Nellie's father William Collins Crossley (b. Middletown, CT 1824; d. Madison, CT 1891) was a ship builder, sailor and captain. Family records indicate voyages out of Honolulu, HI to Japan.
