DescriptionYoung girl's dress of white cotton, with a wide, slightly rounded neckline gathered, but not adjustable, on a drawstring in front and gathered on a functioning drawstring in back. The full, gathered sleeves are about elbow length. The bodice is gathered into a 1 5/8-inch-wide waistband. The full skirt is also gathered evenly all around the waistband, which is slightly high. The bottom of the skirt is decorated with a row of vandyke points and rows of narrow tucks flanking a whitework-embroidered insertion. The bottom of the skirt is edged with vandyke points. The dress opens for 9 1/2 inches at center back (though it is torn beyond this point) and fastens with the drawstring at the neckline and with two hooks and eyes at the waistband. The waistband is lined with plain linen.
