DescriptionChild's dress of red wool printed in black with an X design. The dress, which was much worn and patched during its original period of use, has a high, round neckline bound with a red and black cotton print. The bodice is long-waisted and closely fitted with a center front seam and two long darts. The sleeves are long and straight. The armscyes and waistline are piped. The full skirt is gathered into the waist. There is an in-seam pocket on the proper right side of the skirt. The center back opening is 18 1/4 inches long and fastens with brass hooks and eyes. The bodice is lined with plain white cotton; the sleeves are lined with calico with a very faded brown print.
