DescriptionA birds-eye view of a large city on both banks of a wide river. Commercial and residential buildings line the streets. Numerous church steeples are visible, and a large, domed cathedral with flanking towers, columns and a pediment occupies a prominent position in the middle distance. Smoke issues from some chimneys. People walk on sidewalks and in the square in the left foreground; horse-drawn vehicles are in the street nearby. Two bridges span the river in the right background. Steamboats and sailing vessels are on the water.
