DescriptionMan's vest of cream-colored figured silk, with a woven design of satin flowers and leaves on a twill background. The vest has a deep shawl collar which rises high at the back of the neck. The center front closes with five self-covered buttons. There is a 5 1/2-inch wide pocket on each lower side. The collar edges, extending to the front opening and bottom edges, are piped with grosgrain silk. The back fabric is plain, undyed cotton. Four linen tapes stitched on the back originally tied to adjust the fit. The vest is lined with plain, undyed cotton. This vest is beautifully stitched, suggesting it was for a special occasion, such as a wedding.
