DescriptionCream-colored cotton sateen, ankle-length, side-lacing boots. The toes are a rounded square and the soles are flat. The toes are decorated with pleated silk ribbon worked in a spiral to form a rosette. The uppers are lined with white twill-woven cotton fabric; the sock lining is also a white twill-woven cotton fabric. The side lacing is faced with a separate tongue. The soles had been altered by adding a heel; puncture marks from the pegging remain, and the sock lining is augmented with a patch of leather and felt in the heel area. These heels were removed before the boots entered the CHS collection.
