DescriptionInfant's dress of white cotton, with wide, square neckline controlled by a drawstring. The short sleeves are embroidered with floral vines. The center of the flowers are inserted with needlerun net lace. The edge of the sleeve is decorated with tiny loops worked with buttonhole stitches. The skirt is slightly gathered to the bottom of the bodice, which encases a drawstring. The center back is open for ten inches; it appears to have originally been open for the entire length. The bottom of the skirt has rows of tucks flanking a 4 1/2-inch-wide band of whitework embroidery in a flowering vine pattern, with the flower centers inset with needlerun net lace. Below this is worked a row of 5/8-inch-diameter dots made up of French knots and another three rows of tucks.
