DescriptionLong infant's dress of white cotton, with a square plastron front of whitework embroidery. The neckline is high and round; it is bound with bias white cotton and has a ruffle of whitework embroidery. The plastron is also edged with a whitework ruffle. The front of the dress is gathered into the bottom edge of the plastron. The back of the dress is stitched with six-inch-long tucks up to the neckline. The center back opening is about ten inches long and fastens with two small buttons near the top. The buttons are hidden under a placket. The sleeves are about eight inches long and are embellished at the wrist openings with pintucks flanked by whitework-embroidered ruffles. The bottom of the skirt is decorated with a series of tucks, and edged with a four-inch-wide flounce of scalloped whitework embroidery.
