DescriptionWoman's sunbonnet of white cotton printed with a black striped pattern. The brim is interfaced and stitched in concentric lines for stiffness; it is also heavily starched. The brim is edged with a self-fabric ruffle. The crown is gathered to the brim and a double self-fabric ruffle is sewn over the seam. The curtain is twelve inches long at the center back; it is gathered along the bottom of the brim and crown; this seam is covered with a double ruffle. Self-fabric ties would make a bow at the back of the neck. The neck curtain is edged with a ruffle; the seam is covered with a bias strip of self-fabric. The back of the neck has a drawstring on the inside to adjust the fit. The inside of the brim is lined with self-fabric. Self-fabric ties mounted at the bottom edge on either side of the brim would tie under the chin.
